The National Executive of the All People’s Congress (APC) has met with party flagbearer aspirants in a bid to foster unity, dialogue, and a shared vision ahead of upcoming elections.
Party officials said the engagement created a platform for open and constructive discussions between the leadership and aspirants vying for the flagbearer position. Key issues highlighted included internal cohesion, adherence to party rules, and prioritizing the collective interest of the APC over individual ambitions.
Participants described the meeting as inclusive and forward-looking. Several aspirants welcomed the opportunity to present their views directly to the leadership and to receive guidance on maintaining peace and discipline within the party as the political process unfolds.
The National Executive underscored the importance of unity, particularly during critical pre-election periods. Leaders reminded aspirants of the APC’s long-standing principles and urged them to conduct campaigns in ways that strengthen, rather than divide, the party.
In response, aspirants reaffirmed their loyalty to the APC and its values. They pledged to support any process agreed upon by the party and to work collectively to ensure the APC remains united and focused on its broader political goals.
Officials emphasized that such engagements are part of ongoing efforts to encourage dialogue and prevent internal tensions. They noted that maintaining stability within the party is essential to presenting a strong and credible front to the electorate.
While the APC has not yet announced a timeline for selecting its flagbearer, leaders assured that consultations and engagements with stakeholders will continue in the interest of transparency and unity.
