As he poised for the All People’s Congress (APC) national secretariat leadership, two leading affiliated APC groups, the Global Rapid Hunt Unit Mothers and the National Grassroots Network have endorsed Lansana Dumbuya Esq. as the next Secretary General of the party.
Speaking on Tuesday, July 21, 2022, at the legal luminary office, Soldier Street in Freetown, National Chairman at National Grassroots Network, Mohamed Samura, says they are in full support of Lansana Dumbuya whom they believe is capable to oust the SLPP government from power.
He commended Lawyer Dumbuya for exercising ‘the greatest patience’ with regards to his quest for the hot seat, adding that with all the challenges ranging from humiliation, unlawful detention and arrest of party officials, Lawyer Dumbuya resisted and stayed in solidarity with the party’s members and supporters.
“Stakeholders from zones, constituencies, districts, regions, national, diaspora etc. are all maintaining the vision due to the reality around his personality and other linkages. Thus, the APC Grassroots is desperately waiting to see that he become the secretary general,” he said.
“We have reposed our trust and confidence in him due to his loyalty and patience to the party, and nobody will change our mindset. We are fully sure that, the national delegate conference for the secretary general candidate is a done deal for Lawyer Lansana Dumbuya because we the Grassroots serves as decision-makers. He has been patiently waiting for this position for far too long. Now is the right time and I believe he is the right man to lead the party to victory come next year’s general elections,” Samura said.
One of the Global Rapid Hunt Unit Mothers, Isatu Sesay said she is happy to be part of the endorsement, noting that in 2012, Mr. Dumbuya left his gainfully employed job in Rwanda to contest for the APC Secretary General position. “Because of his humility and dedication to the party, he decided to step-down for the erstwhile secretary general and wait for his time; and now is the rightful time,” she said.
“On behalf of the Global Rapid Hunt Unit CEO Ms Bangura in Germany, Women Solidarity Movement, we the Rapid Hunt Mothers hereby endorse him as the next national secretary general of the party,” she revealed.
Appreciating the endorsement, the legal luminary, Lawyer Dumbuya commended the two affiliate groups for what he labelled as ‘a remarkable day in his whole political excursion. He continued that in life even if you are the first to start a journey, you must be ready to accept others in achieving your dream, stressing that those people that later join you are the ones that are going to make you realize your dream.
He said that he has been with the APC Grassroots Network even before the 2018 elections.
“Your work as affiliate groups have done a lot during this pivotal time of the party. We are hoping that as you have sacrificed your resources and time for the party, with the help of God you will reap the reward under my leadership.”
He assuring them of resounding victory in the June 2023 general elections.
