Sierra Leone — A 45-year-old man, Mohamed Massaquoi, alias Kokomani, was on Monday, November 17, 2025, sentenced to 100 years imprisonment by Justice Mark Ngegba after pleading guilty to multiple charges including aggravated robbery and unlawful possession of firearms.
Massaquoi was arraigned on four counts:
- Conspiracy to commit robbery with aggravation
- Two counts of robbery with aggravation
- Possession of firearms without a license
According to the indictment, between 21 and 28 July 2025 in Freetown, Massaquoi conspired with unknown persons to commit aggravated robbery. He was accused of robbing victims Mohamed Marrah and Finda Kamara while armed with a gun, stealing items including a Techno Spark 7 mobile phone, an Itel mobile phone, a DVD player, and other assorted goods valued at NLe 6,300. He was also found in possession of two AK-47 rifles without lawful authority.
Court Proceedings
When the charges were read, Massaquoi pleaded guilty on all four counts. State Counsel A. Jalloh presented the facts, confirming the robberies and the recovery of firearms and ammunition. Jalloh requested the maximum sentence due to the severity of the offenses and further asked that the firearms be handed over to the Small Arms Commission for destruction.
In his allocutus, Massaquoi admitted to committing the crimes while under the influence of drugs and pleaded for mercy, claiming he had recently converted to Christianity.
Sentencing
Justice Ngegba, in his ruling, sentenced Massaquoi as follows:
- Count One (Conspiracy): 10 years imprisonment
- Count Two (Robbery with aggravation): 40 years imprisonment
- Count Three (Robbery with aggravation): 40 years imprisonment
- Count Four (Possession of firearms): 10 years imprisonment
The sentences are to run concurrently, amounting to 100 years in prison.
