The Ballanta Music Makers are set to deliver an enchanting evening of vocal artistry and musical brilliance at the highly anticipated Vocal Variety concert. This premier event will take place on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Logie Wright Auditorium, 27 Liverpool Street, offering attendees a showcase of extraordinary talent and creativity.
As a celebrated choral group under the Ballanta Academy of Music and Performing Arts (BAMPA), the Ballanta Music Makers represent the cornerstone of arts education in Sierra Leone. For over two decades, BAMPA has nurtured local musical talent, making this concert a significant milestone—the first independently produced show by the Ballanta Music Makers.
Attendees of the Vocal Variety concert can look forward to an eclectic repertoire spanning genres such as classical, light classical, and African music, highlighting the breadth and versatility of vocal performance. Beyond entertainment, the event supports BAMPA’s mission of cultivating Sierra Leone’s musical talent, with a minimum donation of Le 200 contributing to this noble cause.
The concert features an impressive lineup of performers guaranteed to deliver a night of unforgettable music. Among them are Henry Ozobia Charles, Marian Kuyembeh, Charlie King Jnr, Gifty Smith, and special guest Dr. Samuel Halket Baker. Additionally, alumni performers Showers Jalloh, popularly known as The Afropop King, Amanda Ballata Makuta Kamara, Sia Borbor, and the Groovy Colours Band will add their unique styles to the evening, ensuring a dynamic blend of sounds and performances.
This event also seeks to deepen public appreciation for vocal artistry while fostering a culture of musical excellence. BAMPA’s continuous efforts to promote local talent through educational initiatives and performances remain evident in its commitment to this concert. By bringing together seasoned musicians and emerging artists, the show creates a vibrant space for artistic expression and engagement.
The Vocal Variety concert has been made possible through the support of generous sponsors such as Aureol Insurance Co., Dalan Consultants, and Yada Williams and Associates. Their contributions play a vital role in sustaining music education and performance programs in Sierra Leone.
As an additional treat, the Ballanta Academy management announced the opening of the Ballanta Café on its premises, giving guests a chance to enjoy refreshments before or after the show. They remarked, “The Ballanta Music Makers will entertain you with songs from different genres, from classical and light classical to African! Be sure to be a part of this delightful experience.”
Music enthusiasts are encouraged to secure their spots early and prepare for an evening filled with harmonious melodies, captivating performances, and a celebration of music’s power to inspire and bring people together.
