Freetown—Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Magistrate Court has issued a bench warrant against Amidu Sesay, an associate of popular musician Kao Denero, for failing to appear in court on Thursday, June 12, 2025. Sesay faces charges related to assault and intimidation brought against him by fellow musician Frederick Peters, alias Famous.
During the proceedings, the second accused, Med Denero, was present, but Sesay was absent. In response, Assistant Commissioner of Police Joan Bull, the lead prosecutor, applied for a bench warrant to be issued against Sesay and his sureties, who had earlier guaranteed his court appearance. Magistrate Jah granted the application, rescinding bail for both accused persons despite a plea mitigation request from defense counsel Zacharias Kanu.
Sesay and Mohamed Kargbo are facing seven charges, including conspiracy, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, disorderly behavior, and intimidation, all contrary to Sierra Leonean law. The alleged offenses took place on February 22, 2025, at Radisson Blu Hotel, Aberdeen, Freetown, where the two accused, along with unknown persons, reportedly assaulted Frederick Peters and Ibrahim Fofanah.
The prosecution further alleges that the accused engaged in disorderly behavior and intimidated the victims, leaving them fearful. With bail rescinded, the case was adjourned for further hearing today.
This case underscores ongoing concerns over violence and intimidation within Sierra Leone’s entertainment industry.
