Bike Rider Remanded for Alleged Manslaughter

Freetown, Sierra Leone —  July 29, 2025: A motorbike rider, Emmanuel Tommy, has been remanded in custody by Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura of the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No.8, following accusations of unlawful killing.

Tommy, who made his first court appearance on Tuesday, is facing a charge of manslaughter contrary to law for allegedly causing the death of Mohamed Bah. The incident reportedly occurred on Friday, 30 May 2025, at New England Ville in Freetown. Police stated that the accused, while riding a TVS Star HLX motorbike with registration number AUV 346, unlawfully killed the victim.

During the proceedings, no plea was taken from the accused. Police Prosecutor Inspector Aminata Korio requested an adjournment, citing the absence of witnesses.

Magistrate Samura denied bail and ordered that Tommy be remanded at the male correctional facility in Freetown. The case has been adjourned to 31 July 2025 for further hearing.
