Freetown – The Chief Justice of Sierra Leone, His Lordship Honourable Justice Komba Kamanda, on Tuesday paid an unannounced visit to the Pademba Road Magistrate Courts as part of ongoing efforts to monitor the performance and commitment of judicial officers and support staff.

The surprise inspection, conducted during normal court sittings in the early hours of the day, focused on assessing punctuality, attendance, and the general work ethic of magistrates and court personnel.

Chief Justice Kamanda explained that the exercise forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen accountability within the judiciary and ensure the effective delivery of justice to citizens. He stressed that such monitoring visits will continue across courts nationwide in line with his vision of improving access to justice and restoring public confidence in the judicial system.

“These monitoring visits will continue as we work towards bringing justice closer to all Sierra Leoneans. So far, I’m satisfied,” the Chief Justice remarked.

He was accompanied by Deputy Assistant Registrar (DAR) Mabel Sesay, who engaged with court staff on administrative and operational challenges affecting service delivery.

Since assuming office, Justice Kamanda has consistently emphasized reforms centered on integrity, accountability, and efficiency. Tuesday’s visit is widely seen as a practical demonstration of his commitment to judicial reform and service delivery.
