Chinese Embassy Supports Sports Sector

A high-powered delegation from the Ministry of Sports (MOS) and the National Sports Authority (NSA) on Monday, 11th August 2025, departed Freetown for China for a two-week seminar on Sustainable Development and Management Capabilities for Sports Officials from Africa and Asia. 

Admonishing the dedicated staff members before departure, the Minister of Sports Madam Augusta James-Teima encouraged the officials to be focused during the seminar. “You were carefully selected to represent not only the Ministry and the NSA but the country as a whole. This seminar is an opportunity for the sector to strive positively towards sports sustainability management in the country. Treat it with the seriousness it deserves. I wish you a safe journey,” the Minister said.

On his part, the Chief of the NSA Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai said: “I trust your intellectual cognition. Be attentive and remain focused during the seminar to gain new knowledge for the development of our sports. Being the first batch of staff for this knowledge gaining education, you are expected to return home safe and share the acquired knowledge with the other staff members.”

The 18-man delegation largely comprised senior management staff and sports development officers is led by Dr. Abdulai Rahman Swaray, the Deputy Executive Director of the NSA.

The Minister of Sports and the NSA Boss are sincerely grateful to the Chinese Ambassador in Sierra Leone and his team for always considering the sports sector for available opportunities relating to sports development in Sierra Leone.
