Sierra Leone – November 21, 2025: Choithram International School (CIS), in partnership with its Parents’ Association, has officially handed over the newly renovated Hill Cut Road Community School to residents of the Hill Cut Road community. The ceremony, held on Friday, marked a major milestone in improving educational infrastructure for underserved children in the area.

The renovation project, fully funded through charitable activities organized by CIS—including movie nights, fun fairs, and parent-led fundraising initiatives—transformed the once-dilapidated building into a safer and more conducive learning environment.

CIS Principal Niharika Agnani said the school was chosen after an internal review identified it as urgently in need of rehabilitation. She expressed gratitude to parents, donors, and community members for their support, adding that CIS plans to undertake similar projects annually.

Representing CIS, Naman Agnani commended parents and contractors for their dedication, noting that the refurbished facility will significantly improve teaching and learning conditions for pupils.

Community representative Chancellor Daboh described the school’s previous state—damaged roofs, poor sanitation, and unsafe classrooms—as a longstanding concern. He thanked CIS for stepping in and appealed for continued support in providing classroom furniture, books, and electricity.

Head Teacher Michael G. S. Kamara hailed the intervention as transformative, saying it has renewed hope for teachers and pupils alike. He expressed optimism that the strengthened partnership would inspire greater academic performance.

Other speakers, including community stakeholder Steve Sesay and Parents’ Association representative Mohamed Wurie, praised CIS for its commitment to service and collaboration. Delivering the vote of thanks, pupil Hassanatu Mabinty Kamara described the renovated school as “a beacon of hope and opportunity,” pledging that pupils would take good care of the facility.

The ceremony concluded with a pledge from all stakeholders to maintain the school and strengthen future collaboration aimed at enhancing education in the Hill Cut Road community.

The successful renovation underscores CIS’s enduring commitment to service, leadership, and community transformation—demonstrating that quality education extends beyond the classroom and into the heart of Sierra Leone’s communities.
