Freetown, Sierra Leone – February 2026 The Christ the King College (CKC) Class of 2006 is celebrating the remarkable academic achievement of one of its members, Dr. John Demby Sandi, who has earned a doctorate in Molecular Cell Biology of Infectious Disease from the University of Ghana.

Members of the 2006 alumni expressed immense pride in Dr. Sandi’s accomplishment, recalling his ambition and academic drive during his school days.

Charles Makaya, Chairman of the Class of 2006, described him as a humble individual with a “destined character occupied with his strong academic background.”

George Momoh Turay, Sports Committee Chairman, praised Sandi’s diligence, noting that he had “made book his friend from inception.”

Charles Vincent, based in Ghana, said Sandi “never disappointed them” and has inspired classmates to pursue higher academic programs.

Laurence Gbondo, Public Relations Officer, expressed hope that Sierra Leone would embrace Dr. Sandi’s expertise, encouraging him to contribute locally rather than join the wave of professionals seeking opportunities abroad.

The achievement has resonated beyond the Class of 2006, serving as motivation for the wider CKC alumni network. Many see Dr. Sandi’s success as proof of the value of perseverance, discipline, and commitment to education.

Dr. Sandi is currently a lecturer at Njala University, Bo Campus, where colleagues and students alike benefit from his expertise in infectious disease research. His doctoral achievement is expected to strengthen Sierra Leone’s academic and scientific community
