Foday Sesay has been remanded in custody following his court appearance before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura at Pademba Road Court No.8, where he faces allegations of stealing over $16,000 from his cousin, Ibrahim Fofanah.

Sesay was arraigned on two counts of larceny under Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916. According to the indictment, on April 26, 2025, in Freetown, he allegedly stole $9,500—equivalent to 233,700 new Leones—from Fofanah. On the same date, he is also accused of stealing an additional $7,000—equivalent to 172,200 new Leones—from another complainant, Osman Bah.

Upon hearing the charges, Sesay pleaded not guilty to the first count but admitted guilt to the second. The prosecution, led by Inspector Aminata Korio, commenced proceedings with testimony from Fofanah, who confirmed that the accused is his cousin and recounted the events of the alleged theft.

Seeking more time for further consultation, the prosecutor requested an adjournment. Sesay, who appeared without legal representation, did not submit a bail application. Magistrate Samura denied bail, ordering the accused to be remanded at the male correctional facility in Freetown. The case was adjourned to June 17, 2025, for continuation.
