DAQVAH Charity Foundation Expands Educational Access with Two New Schools in Port Loko District

Port Loko District, Sierra Leone — October 12, 2025: The DAQVAH Charity Foundation, Sierra Leone’s leading Islamic charitable organization, has marked a significant milestone in its mission to promote education and community development with the commissioning of two newly constructed schools in the rural communities of Mabain and Rogbaray Ka Bangura in Port Loko District.

In Mabain Village, the Foundation officially opened the DAQVAH Islamic Academy Junior Secondary School, a vital facility that will serve children who previously had to walk nearly eight miles to access secondary education. The school, which began as a makeshift structure in 2022, was fully funded through donations mobilized by DAQVAH’s innovative charitable strategies.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Executive Officer Alhaji Abdul Rahman Jalloh shared the inspiring journey behind the project, emphasizing the Foundation’s commitment to bridging educational gaps in underserved areas. “Our vision is to bring education closer to every child, especially those in remote communities who face daily struggles just to learn,” he said, while extending gratitude to donors, volunteers, and DAQVAH District Coordinator Ayoub Joaque.

The event was attended by Hon. Ishmail Sankoh Yillah, Member of Parliament, who praised DAQVAH’s impactful intervention. He urged the community to take ownership of the school and ensure its sustainability. “In my entire life, I have never witnessed a school commissioning where children are provided with complete school packs — bags, uniforms, shoes, and books,” he remarked before performing the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony and touring the facilities.

Later in the day, the DAQVAH delegation traveled to Rogbaray Ka Bangura Village to inaugurate the DAQVAH Islamic Academy Primary School. The community greeted the team with songs and celebrations, expressing heartfelt appreciation for the Foundation’s support.

Community elder Pa Abdul Karim Bangura recounted the dangers children faced walking along unsafe highways to distant schools and thanked DAQVAH for bringing education to their doorstep. He also acknowledged his son, Abdul Karim Bangura, for initiating contact with the Foundation on behalf of the village.

A total of 73 pupils received school packs, including uniforms and bags. The Executive Finance Director, Madam Mariam Sedik Kamara, officially commissioned the school by cutting the ribbon and unveiling the school badge. The ceremony concluded with prayers and expressions of gratitude from community members.

With these new schools, DAQVAH Charity Foundation continues to solidify its legacy as a beacon of hope, empowering rural communities through access to quality Islamic and secular education across Sierra Leone.
