Deaf Football Team Appeals for Support Ahead of West Africa Tournament

Freetown, August 6, 2025 — The Sierra Leone National Deaf Football Team is making urgent appeals to key stakeholders for support as they prepare to represent the country in the upcoming 13th Edition of the West Africa Deaf Football Tournament, scheduled to take place in Abuja, Nigeria, from August 15 to 31, 2025.

The team is seeking immediate intervention from the Ministry of Sports, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), and the National Sports Authority (NSA) to grant them access to the SLFA Football Academy pitch for final training sessions. With the tournament fast approaching, officials say access to proper facilities is critical to their readiness and performance.

In a bid to secure financial and logistical support, the team has reached out to the management of Leone Rock Company, known for its consistent backing of football activities across Sierra Leone. As the sole sponsor of the Sierra Leone Super Premier League, Leone Rock has played a pivotal role in promoting sports development nationwide.

The Deaf Football Team is appealing to the company to extend its generosity to their cause, enabling them to participate in the prestigious regional tournament and proudly represent Sierra Leone on the international stage.

Team officials describe their participation as a national assignment that deserves urgent attention and support. They are calling on the government and all relevant bodies to act swiftly to ensure the team’s successful journey to Nigeria.
