Freetown, 3rd September 2025: After multiple adjournments without the appearance of prosecution witnesses, Magistrate Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 has granted bail to 28-year-old Mohamed Turay, who faces charges of fraudulent conversion involving a missing motorbike.
Turay, who identified himself as a driver, is accused of converting a TVS Star motorbike—entrusted to him for commercial use—to his own benefit. The motorbike, bearing registration number ARD 751 and valued at NLe 12,000, was reportedly handed over to Turay by Umaro Samson Bangura in November 2024 at #43 Macfoy Lane, Congo Town, Freetown.
The charge, brought under Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916, was read in court, but Turay did not enter a plea. Proceedings have been repeatedly delayed due to the absence of prosecution witnesses.
Magistrate Jah granted bail in the sum of NLe 20,000, with two sureties required to reside within the court’s jurisdiction and present valid identification. The case has been adjourned to 10th September 2025 for further hearing.
Police Constable 17649 Brima Kargbo is leading the prosecution.
