Driver on Remand for Killing

Einoh Sesay, a driver, was on Tuesday, February 13, 2024 sent to prison by Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No 2 for allegedly killing Alpha Kabbay Rogers while driving.

The accused who made his first appearance was arraigned on two counts of manslaughter contrary to law and careless and inconsiderate driving contrary to section 101 of the Road Traffic Act No.5 of 2007.

The charge sheet indicates that the accused on Saturday, January 27, 2024, along Signal Hill Road in Freetown, being the driver in control of Renault vehicle did unlawfully kill Alpha Kabbay Rogers.

The police further alleged that the accused on the same day did drive carelessly and inconsiderate manner and rammed into  Hilux motorbike.

After the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

The prosecutor ASP Isatu Baba Musa sought for an adjournment on the grounds that the witnesses were absent and therefore could not proceed with the matter.

Magistrate Santigie Bangura however, remanded the accused. The matter was adjourned to February 20, 2024, for the prosecution to open their case.
