The inaugural Mallam O. Bongolistic Scholarship has been awarded to Alan Lamin Jalloh, a first-year student in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Fourah Bay College (FBC), University of Sierra Leone.
The announcement was made following Jalloh’s nomination by the Department, which recognized him as the overall best new entrant for the 2026/2027 academic session.
Valued at NLe 53,600, the scholarship will cover Jalloh’s annual tuition fees of NLe 13,400 for a period of four years, provided he maintains satisfactory academic progress. Payments will be made directly to the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
The scholarship is awarded in honour of the late Prof. Dr. Joseph Aruna Lawrence Kamara, whose legacy of teaching, mentorship, and academic excellence continues to inspire initiatives that support young scholars.
Benefactor Mallam O. reaffirmed his commitment to nurturing outstanding talent and congratulated Jalloh on the achievement. “We wish him continued excellence in his academic journey,” he stated.
The award underscores the importance of investing in education and recognizing exceptional students, while also preserving the memory of one of Sierra Leone’s most respected academics.
