FREETOWN – Five individuals accused of conspiring to assassinate the Director General of the Sierra Leone Civil Aviation Authority, Musayaroh Barrie, have been further remanded in custody following a court appearance on Tuesday, 24 June 2025.

The accused—Albert Sheriff Soloku, Foday Turay, Musa Kamara, Augustine Rashid Kelfal Josiah, and Kadiatu Kamara—are facing one count of proposing to murder, contrary to Section 4 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861. The alleged incident is reported to have occurred on Friday, 18 April 2025, in Freetown.

During proceedings at the Pademba Road Court No.2, presided over by Magistrate John Manso Fornah, prosecution witness DPC 17171 Alie Kamara of the Criminal Investigation Department was cross-examined by defense counsel Maddieu Sesay.

Under cross-examination, Kamara admitted he did not know how the complainant came into possession of the threatening audio recordings allegedly made by the accused. He stated that the recordings were forwarded for forensic audio analysis and confirmed that the complainant is not a certified voice expert.

Defense counsel Sesay applied for an adjournment to continue his cross-examination and renewed the accused’s bail application, which the magistrate once again denied.

The matter was adjourned to July 1, 2025, for the continuation of cross-examination, while the accused remains in custody.
