FREETOWN, SIERRA LEONE – Former Chief Electoral Commissioner Mohamed N’fah Alie Conteh has initiated a civil lawsuit against his wife, Agnes Shella Kumba Conteh, in a private legal dispute. The case is currently being heard before Justice Cosmotina Jarrett at the High Court in Freetown.
The legal proceedings began with N’fah Alie Conteh filing the lawsuit, but the defendant, Mrs. Conteh, has yet to be formally served with the indictments, as she was absent from the court session. Reports confirm that the issue at hand is a personal dispute between the couple.
During the initial hearing, the applicant Mr. Conteh was present in court, while his wife did not appear. However, her legal representative informed the court that Mrs. Conteh is currently outside the jurisdiction, which has delayed her ability to respond to the lawsuit.
In light of her absence, her lawyer requested an adjournment to allow time for a substituted service application, a legal procedure used when an individual cannot be personally served court documents. Justice Cosmotina Jarrett granted the request, adjourning the case to Tuesday, May 13, 2025, when the court is expected to review and decide on the request for substituted service.
The development has sparked public interest, as legal observers await further proceedings to determine the next steps in the high-profile dispute.
