The fraud case involving Tamba Johnny Walker has been committed to the High Court for trial following a ruling by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah on June 10, 2025, at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown.

Walker was arraigned on two charges:

– Conspiracy, contrary to law

– Obtaining money by false pretenses, under Section 21(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916

According to the charge sheet, on June 6, 2023, in Regent, Freetown, Walker allegedly conspired with unknown persons and fraudulently obtained 240,000 New Leones from complainant Alie Neama Conteh by falsely claiming ownership of four towns of land for sale.

During the hearing, Prosecutor Sergeant 8975 Ibrahim Saspo Bangura presented two witnesses whose testimonies corroborated the allegations against Walker.

In his ruling, Magistrate Jah stated, β€œThe prosecution has led sufficient evidence before the court to warrant the accused to stand trial at the High Court.”

Walker was asked if he wished to change his statement made to the police, but he declined. Instead, he expressed his intention to testify and call witnesses in his defense.

Despite being committed for trial, Walker was granted bail, subject to approval by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.

The case will now proceed to the High Court, where further legal arguments and witness testimonies will be heard.
