Freetown, July 29, 2026 — The Ministry of Communication, Technology and Innovation (MoCTI), in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade and Industry, has convened a high‑level public‑private dialogue to strengthen Sierra Leone’s e‑transactions legal and regulatory framework. The engagement was supported by the International Trade Centre (ITC) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
The dialogue brought together key stakeholders from government, the private sector, and development partners to assess Sierra Leone’s digital commerce landscape, identify legal and regulatory gaps, and propose practical solutions to support secure and trusted electronic transactions.
Participants examined challenges affecting the implementation of e‑transactions and developed recommendations aimed at creating an enabling environment for digital trade, innovation, and investment.
Officials noted that the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Sierra Leone’s digital economy by improving the legal framework governing online transactions, enhancing consumer confidence, and supporting businesses to thrive in the digital marketplace.
The Government and its partners reaffirmed their commitment to advancing digital transformation and building a resilient, inclusive, and competitive digital economy for Sierra Leone.
