A vital bridge linking Baw Baw Old Town and New Town under construction
Hon. Ibrahim Kabba
Freetown, May 30, 2026: The Member of Parliament in the Western Area Rural District, Hon. Ibrahim Kabba, aka ‘Small Borbor’ has been widely praised for spearheading a series of transformative community projects aimed at improving infrastructure, empowering youths, and enhancing social services across his constituency.
The latest of his initiative is the construction of a vital bridge linking Baw Baw Old Town and New Town, a project valued at over Le100,000. Community Headman Tamba Willie lauded the development, noting that schoolchildren previously risked crossing the stream on foot during the rainy season, often endangering their lives. He described the bridge as a “remarkable achievement that will serve generations.”
Beyond the bridge, Hon. Kabba has rolled out multiple projects since his election to Parliament. These include:
- Youth Empowerment: Provision of two fishing boats, outboard machines, and fishing gear to young people in Goderich, alongside financial support for youth groups in “attire bases” to start small businesses.
- Education Support: Annual distribution of school supplies, including uniforms, to over 1,000 pupils across communities in the Western Area Rural District — an initiative he began two years ago.
- Infrastructure Development: Installation of 38 solar streetlights in Goderich (despite theft of some units), each costing over Le5,000; support for culvert construction in Foboh community with 100 bags of cement, enabling vehicles and bikes to pass through safely.
- Sanitation Projects: Construction of a six-unit toilet facility in Ogoo Farm, in partnership with the wife of the Finance Minister, to combat open defecation; paving of drainage at Old Adonkia Road, set to open soon.
- Community Centres: Donation of 20 bags of cement each to support construction at Mambo and York community centres.
Hon. Kabba also highlighted ongoing collaborations with partners such as UNICEF, which has provided water tanks and toilet facilities under its WASH program in England Field, Goderich, and is currently building a fish landing site.
Speaking on his motivation, Hon. Kabba said his commitment stems from being “born and bred in these communities,” emphasizing that after politics, he has nowhere else to go but to remain with his people. He pledged to continue supporting initiatives that uplift lives and strengthen community resilience.
Community members have hailed his efforts as a model of grassroots leadership, noting that his projects are not only improving livelihoods but also fostering unity and pride across the Western Area Rural District.
