I-Bangs to Stage Sierra Leone’s First Flute Concert

Freetown, Sierra Leone – April 25, 2026: Sierra Leone’s music industry is set to break new ground as Ibrahim S. Bangura, popularly known as I-Bangs, hosts the nation’s first-ever flute concert. The historic event, titled “I-Bangs Live”, will take place at the Logie Wright Auditorium, 27 Liverpool Street, Freetown, on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at 7 pm.

Sponsored by the Ballanta Academy of Music and Performing Arts (BAMPA) and the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, the concert promises to showcase the beauty and versatility of the flute while inspiring the next generation of musicians.

Lineup of Performers

The evening will feature a rich blend of talent, including:

  • Stephan Flore, German brass music expert
  • Dr. Kitty Fadlu-Deen, BAMPA co-founder
  • Double King, director of Groovy Colors Band
  • Jeremiah Mattia Sesay, percussionist
  • Michael Sesay (Biologically), comedian and content creator
  • Sierra Phoenix, poet
  • Voice of Fire Junior, rising local talent

The event will be hosted by Alfina, a popular content creator.

🎓 About I-Bangs

I-Bangs began his musical journey in 2015 as a voice student at BAMPA and has since earned six prestigious music certificates, including UK-based ABRSM qualifications in music theory and flute performance. His versatility spans voice, keyboard, acoustic guitar, and flute. He has performed in Vocal Drift Season 3 (2018) and Britain’s Got Talent (2024), where he showcased both flute and vocal skills.

Renowned for blending classical flute techniques with African musical expression, I-Bangs has emerged as one of Sierra Leone’s leading contemporary flautists. His work represents a cultural shift, placing instrumental music at the forefront of performance art in the country.
