September 17, 2025: The Pharmacy Board of Sierra Leone has issued a public alert regarding the circulation of illegally imported Diclofenac Tablets, warning citizens against the consumption of the product due to safety concerns.

According to the Board, the tablets were brought into the country by Leigh Pharmaceuticals, located at No. 10 Regent Road, without an import permit. As a result, the Board cannot guarantee the product’s efficacy or safety.

Further investigations revealed that the tablets are counterfeit versions of Paludic, a registered pharmaceutical product authorized by Abanita Pharmaceuticals. The Board emphasized that the unauthorized Diclofenac Tablets pose a potential risk to public health.

In a statement signed by Registrar Dr. James P. Komeh, the Pharmacy Board directed that the product should not be consumed under any circumstances. The public is urged to report any information regarding the sale, distribution, or storage of the tablets to the Board through its official channels for regulatory action.

“The Pharmacy Board remains committed to protecting and safeguarding public health at all times,” the statement affirmed.
