Sierra Leone – August 28, 2025: Sierra Leone’s Music Ambassador and renowned hip-hop artist Dennis Turay, popularly known as Kao Denero, issued a public apology in court on Thursday to fellow musician Fredrick Peters, alias Famous, over a recent altercation at the Radisson Blu Hotel.
The apology came during a hearing at Pademba Road Court No.4 before Magistrate Adama Kandeh, following assault charges filed by Famous. The incident reportedly led to the disappearance of $7,000 from Famous’s possession. As part of a settlement, Kao Denero paid $5,000 to Famous—a payment said to have been facilitated by prominent politician Sidie Mohamed Tunis.
During proceedings, Lawyer Madieu Sesay, representing Famous, confirmed receipt of the settlement but emphasized that his client’s pursuit of justice was rooted in principles of respect and accountability within the entertainment industry—not financial compensation.
In response, Kao Denero expressed deep regret over the incident, describing it as unfortunate and unintentional. He recalled the brotherhood he once shared with Famous and extended a heartfelt apology, calling for peace between them and their respective supporters.
Famous, through his lawyer, accepted the apology and signaled openness to an amicable resolution, noting a desire to avoid unnecessary public attention.
Magistrate Kandeh commended both parties for their willingness to reconcile and reminded them of their influence as public figures. He urged them to lead by example, especially for the youth who look up to them.
“You are ambassadors of the music industry,” Magistrate Kandeh stated. “Your actions should reflect leadership and promote peace.”
The matter was adjourned to September 10, 2025, for further proceedings.
