Freetown, Sierra Leone – Justice Jusu Kallon has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by High Court Judge, Honourable Justice Manuela AJ Harding, for house breaking and larceny.
Delivering her ruling on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at the Pademba Road High Court, Justice Harding emphasized her commitment to speedy trial, completing the case within three months of assignment. She encouraged both the State and Defence Counsel to support the court in expediting justice.
Kallon was convicted on a two-count indictment under Section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act, 1916, after pleading guilty to charges of unlawful entry and theft.
Case Details
According to the prosecution, on April 2, 2025, Kallon entered the residence of Josephus Choe Junior Mamie, located at W7 Spur Loop, Freetown, and stole perfume, t-shirts, a solar light, bags, trousers, a Bluetooth speaker, Le. 200 cash, a wristwatch, and other items.
The State was represented by AT Rogers, who applied for trial by judge alone under Section 144 (2) of the Criminal Procedure Act, 1965, as amended. With no objections raised, the court granted the request.
The charges were read in Krio, and Kallon pleaded guilty, requesting leniency.

In addition, Kallon was ordered to pay Le. 20,000 in compensation to the complainant, Josephus Choe Junior Mamie, and restitution was granted for the stolen items or their monetary equivalent.
