Freetown,  January 28, 2026: Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 has committed the case of State vs. Abass Kargbo to the High Court of Sierra Leone for trial, following allegations that the accused unlawfully killed Abubakar Fullah.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, Magistrate Jah ordered that Kargbo be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown until the matter is formally called at the High Court.

The indictment alleges that on Tuesday, 11 November 2025, at Timbo Lane, Bah Drive off Peninsula Highway in Freetown, Kargbo murdered Fullah. He was charged with one count of murder contrary to Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861, as repealed and replaced by Section 1(a) of the Schedule to the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act, 2021 (Act No. 6 of 2022).

At his first appearance, the charge was read and explained to the accused, but no plea was taken.

In his ruling, Magistrate Jah stated that the prosecution had established a prima facie case sufficient to warrant committal. He therefore ordered that the matter be transferred to the High Court for trial and that the accused remain in lawful custody pending his appearance before the higher court.

The case will now proceed at the High Court for further trial.
