Music Industry Mourns Loss of Iconic Producer Joe Crack

 The Sierra Leonean music industry has been plunged into mourning following the death of celebrated producer Joseph Bockarie, known popularly as Joe Crack, who passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, after battling illness for more than two months. His passing marks the loss of a musical visionary whose work and mentorship defined a generation of sound.

A Loss Felt Across the Nation

According to reliable sources, Joe Crack succumbed to an illness locally referred to as “ducks alay.” In a heartfelt statement, the Association of Music Producers and Engineers (AMPE) described him as “a vibrant soul, a brother in music, and an inspiration to many within our community.”

“Joe was more than just a talented producer—he was a vibrant soul whose creativity, passion, and dedication left an indelible mark on the industry,” the association stated.

Legacy of Sound and Spirit

Known for his infectious studio energy and mastery in blending traditional rhythms with modern influences, Joe Crack rose to prominence as a beatmaker who not only produced hits but elevated the voices of emerging artists. His soundscapes told stories—of struggle, hope, and cultural identity.

Among his acclaimed productions is the hit track “Salamualaikum Final” by Alieu Melody, a testament to his enduring influence on Sierra Leone’s music landscape.

AMPE’s president, Lord Mo, endorsed the tribute which resonated deeply across social media. Fellow producer Lanzo On D Beatz added his voice to the collective sorrow, sharing personal memories of Joe’s creativity and warmth.

Artists, DJs, engineers, and fans have expressed admiration for his commitment to mentorship, often working long hours not for profit, but out of pure love for the art.

In a solemn message to his family, AMPE extended its condolences, pledging to honor Joe Crack’s legacy by uplifting the craft he so passionately pursued.

“Rest in power, Joe Crack. Your music lives on, and so does your spirit,” the statement concluded.
