Freetown, October 6, 2025: — The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) has officially launched a comprehensive digital transformation initiative aimed at modernizing its operations and improving service delivery to members nationwide. The announcement was made by Acting Director General Mohammed Gondoe during the opening of the 2025 NASSIT Customer Service Week held at the Julius Maada Bio Parade Grounds, Hockey Pitch, Wilberforce.
Speaking under the theme “Mission Possible,” Gondoe reaffirmed NASSIT’s commitment to becoming a center of excellence in public service. He described the digitalization effort as a strategic move to streamline pension processing, enhance transparency, and bring services closer to members.
The transformation includes several high-impact projects:
- ICT Infrastructure Upgrade & Data Cleaning: Completed upgrades have improved system reliability, reduced downtime, and enhanced data accuracy and accessibility.
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System: Now 98% complete, the web-based ERP integrates finance, procurement, stores, and fleet management into a unified platform, promoting real-time data sharing and reducing operational costs.
- Web-Based Pension Administration System (PAS): At 99% completion, this system will revolutionize pension management—from member enrollment to mobile and web access for pensioners—ensuring faster claims processing and improved user experience.
- Multi-Factor Biometric Registration System: Currently in the bidder evaluation phase, this system will introduce biometric verification for members and pensioners, bolstering data security and fraud prevention. It is expected to go live by the end of 2025.
Gondoe emphasized that these innovations will allow members to access NASSIT services “at the finger of their palm,” marking a new era of convenience and accountability.
🤝 Partnership with Armed Forces
As part of the Service Week activities, NASSIT is extending its services to members of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) across the Western Area. Gondoe thanked the Chief of Defense Staff and RSLAF members for their support and collaboration.
Major General S.D.T. Ngagua, Chief of General Staff, praised the initiative as a testament to NASSIT’s commitment to improving social protection for military personnel. “A steady pension system will help our officers retire in peace after years of service,” he said.
Brigadier General M.S. Senesie, President of the Men’s Committee of the Sierra Leone Army, expressed confidence in NASSIT’s leadership, describing its administrators as “some of the finest professionals” he has encountered.
A dedicated workstation was established at the event to serve RSLAF members and other visiting customers, allowing them to resolve longstanding issues and familiarize themselves with the new digital systems.
The digitalization of NASSIT marks a transformative chapter in Sierra Leone’s public service delivery, promising greater efficiency, transparency, and accessibility for all stakeholders.
