Freetown, January 30, 2026: The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has intensified its partnership with Sierra Leone’s commercial banks to strengthen revenue administration and enhance service delivery.

At a high-level meeting in Freetown, Commissioner General Mrs. Jeneba J. Bangura commended the banking sector for its role in achieving the 2025 revenue targets and underscored the importance of fully implementing the existing Memorandum of Understanding between the NRA and the banks.

Discussions focused on deepening integration of the Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS) with banking platforms. The move is expected to improve efficiency, enhance transparency, and reduce transaction delays for taxpayers. Mrs. Bangura also highlighted the need to close communication gaps and strengthen information sharing, with operational commissioners presenting practical steps to improve coordination.

Representing the banks, Mr. Mohamed Alhaji Samoura, President of the Sierra Leone Association of Commercial Banks, reaffirmed the sector’s commitment to supporting the NRA’s modernization drive. He emphasized that sustained collaboration and system integration would not only improve tax collection but also contribute to national development.

Both parties agreed to reinforce system integration, improve communication channels, and sustain collaboration as part of a broader effort to build a more effective, transparent, and citizen-friendly revenue administration.

The meeting signals a renewed alliance between the NRA and commercial banks, positioning Sierra Leone’s tax system for greater efficiency and accountability in the years ahead.
