Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority (NRA), Abu Martin Kanneh
Freetown, August 26, 2026: The National Revenue Authority (NRA) has issued an urgent public notice calling on taxpayers, businesses, and licence holders with outstanding Tax and Non‑Tax Revenue obligations to regularize their liabilities immediately or face enforcement action.
According to the NRA, the directive particularly targets mining companies, Environmental Impact Assessment licence holders, Internet service providers, television and radio stations, state land lease holders, factory operators, private security companies, and liquor licence holders.
The Authority stressed that compliance is required “without further delay,” citing Section 12 of the Finance Act, 2019, which empowers the NRA to recover revenue due to Government through enforcement measures.
Enforcement Measures Outlined
Entities that fail to settle their obligations risk facing:
- Sealing of business premises
- Garnishment of business accounts
- Restrictions on international travel
Call for Immediate Action
The NRA urged all affected taxpayers to treat the notice with “utmost urgency” and take steps to regularize their obligations. Taxpayers requiring clarification are encouraged to contact the Authority’s Public Affairs and Tax Education Department for assistance.
