Rolakoh, Bombali District — February 10, 2026: A high-powered delegation led by the Sierra Leone Correctional Service (SLCS) Director General, Mr. Joseph John Senessie, has conducted a landmark site inspection at Rolakoh for the proposed relocation of the Makeni Correctional Centre.

The inspection, which drew national attention, was graced by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Rtd AIG Morie Lengor Esq., the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Henry Kpaka, the Resident Minister North-East, Ibrahim Jalloh, and Paramount Chief Bai Makarie, alongside other community stakeholders.

The move stems from a long-standing SLCS proposal to shift the Makeni Correctional Centre to a more spacious and suitable location, enhancing reformation, rehabilitation, and reintegration programs.

DG Senessie paid homage to local leadership, with Paramount Chief Bai Makarie welcoming the project as a catalyst for development and opportunities in Rolakoh.

Ministers Lengor and Kpaka praised the initiative, noting the land’s suitability for agriculture and alignment with the government’s flagship “Feed Salone” programme.

Dr. Kpaka emphasized opportunities for large-scale farming—maize, rice, and vegetables—that would bolster food security and national development.

The delegation also toured 557 acres of SLCS-owned land at Mafanta, earmarked for agricultural development, reinforcing SLCS’s role in advancing “Feed Salone.”
