OSD Officer Awaits Judgment in Brother’s Murder Case

Freetown, June 2, 2025 – Santigie Kamara, an Operational Support Division (OSD) officer, appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on charges of murder. The case, involving the killing of Francis Amara Kanneh, falls under Section 1 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861, as amended by the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021 (Act No. 6 of 2022).

During the hearing, Magistrate Jah announced that he would deliver a ruling on the case on June 3, 2025. He further denied bail to the accused and ordered his remand at the male correctional center as he awaits judgment.

The case stems from an incident on January 19, 2025, at 555 Lorry Park in Waterloo, where Kamara is alleged to have murdered Kanneh. The prosecution, led by Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai, has closed its case, and the file has been withdrawn for judgment.

The court is set to reconvene for final judgment on June 3, 2025, determining the fate of the accused.
