Kambia District, Sierra Leone – February 13, 2026: The Paramount Chief of Bramaia Chiefdom, Alhaji Kandeh Momoh Samba Sulaiman De Phoreh II, has officially divided the Lower Bramaia Section into two, in what he described as a strategic move to strengthen governance and accelerate development.

The proclamation was made during a ceremony in Gbolon, attended by community leaders, religious figures, youth groups, and security representatives. The restructuring created the new Bukhi-Tagie Section, covering communities from Tugukhoray to Sulaimania, alongside a redefined Lower Bramaia Section, spanning Bassia to Banguraia.

“With this restructuring, Bramaia Chiefdom now has six sections instead of five. This will strengthen our governance system, improve coordination, and promote sustainable development throughout the chiefdom,” the Paramount Chief stated. He explained that the former Lower Bramaia Section was the largest in the chiefdom, comprising more than fifty villages and five major towns, yet managed by only one Section Chief, which made effective governance difficult.

Stakeholders welcomed the initiative, describing it as historic and timely. Community leader Alikalie Kamara praised the decision as a “landmark” that reflects visionary leadership, while Alhaji Umar Moriegbay Kamara called it a “long-awaited intervention” that addresses longstanding challenges.

The ceremony also saw the tentative appointment of sectional heads for Bukhi-Tagie, including Pa Alimamy, Ya Alimamy, and a Section Youth Leader, chosen unanimously by residents. The event concluded with traditional dances and cultural displays, as communities expressed gratitude to the Paramount Chief and reaffirmed their commitment to unity and development.
