Abuja, Nigeria – December 3, 2025: A high-level delegation from the Parliament of Sierra Leone is participating in the 2025 Second Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Parliament, currently underway in Abuja, Nigeria. The session runs from 30 November to 13 December 2025 and brings together lawmakers from across West Africa to deliberate on pressing regional issues.
The Sierra Leone delegation is led by Hon. Veronica K. Sesay, with Hon. Shiaka Musa Sama serving as Deputy Leader. Other members include Hon. Abdul Kargbo, Hon. Saa Emerson Lamina, Mohamed Koroma, and Favour M. Bangura.
As part of the programme, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament of Sierra Leone, Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, will join the delegation to represent the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Segepoh Solomon Thomas, at the 50th Anniversary of the ECOWAS Parliament. The commemoration is scheduled for Thursday, 4 December 2025, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Conference Centre in Abuja.
During the Ordinary Session, parliamentarians will deliberate on key issues including:
- Regional security cooperation
- Economic integration and trade facilitation
- Migration and democratic governance
- Implementation of ECOWAS institutional programmes and budgets
The Sierra Leone delegation is expected to play an active role in debates, committee meetings, and strategic discussions aimed at strengthening ECOWAS’s role in promoting peace, stability, and development across the sub-region.
Their participation underscores Sierra Leone’s commitment to regional cooperation and the collective pursuit of sustainable development, democratic consolidation, and enhanced peace and security within the ECOWAS community.
