Sierra Leone — October 27, 2025: Police Constable Augustine Tamba Saffa and his partner Isha Conteh have been committed to the High Court for trial following allegations of unlawful possession and dealing in prohibited drugs.

The duo appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on Monday, 27 October 2025, where they faced two counts: possession of a prohibited drug and dealing with a prohibited drug without lawful authority.

According to the indictment, Officer Saffa was found in possession of 799 wraps of cannabis sativa on 1 September 2025 at Yakama Street, New Site, Kenema in the Eastern Province. His partner, Isha Conteh, was allegedly found with three parcels of the same substance at the same location and date.

Magistrate Jah, in his ruling, stated that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence to warrant a committal to the High Court. He noted that witness testimonies were consistent and the cannabis exhibits were properly tendered as part of the prosecution’s case.

Both defendants opted to present their side of the story at the High Court and indicated their intention to call witnesses in their defense. They signed the committal form and were subsequently remanded at the Male and Female Correctional Facilities pending their appearance before the High Court.

The case underscores the judiciary’s continued efforts to tackle drug-related offences and uphold the rule of law.
