Freetown, October 7, 2025: Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah of Pademba Road Court No.1 has ordered the remand of Police Sergeant Augustine Tamba Saffa and his partner, Isha Conteh, following their arraignment on drug-related charges.

The duo appeared in court for the first time on Tuesday, facing four counts, including possession and dealing in a prohibited drug without lawful authority. According to police reports, the accused were found in possession of 799 wraps of cannabis sativa on Monday, September 1, 2025, at Yakama Street, New Site, Kenema District.

During the court proceedings, no plea was taken from the defendants. State Prosecutor Abubakarr Natt Taylor Kamara requested an adjournment, citing the absence of key witnesses.

Magistrate Jah denied bail and ordered that both accused be remanded at the male and female correctional facilities in Freetown. The matter has been adjourned to Wednesday, October 8, 2025, for further hearing.

The case has drawn public attention due to the involvement of a serving police officer, raising concerns about law enforcement accountability and drug control enforcement in the country.
