Sierra Leone – May 23, 2025: Momentum is building within the All People’s Congress (APC) party as leading 2028 flagbearer aspirant, Ady Macauley, made a resounding entrance into Gbakeh Loko Chiefdom, Port Loko District. His arrival was met with widespread enthusiasm from party executives, signaling growing support for his candidacy.
Macauley, the former Anti-Corruption Commissioner, was warmly received at Bai Bureh Hall by key stakeholders, party faithful, and prominent figures, including Deputy Mayor Aminata Bangura, District Mayor Zackaria Bangura, Regional Organizing Secretary Abu Bakarr Conteh, and District Chairman Alie Suma. The event, which began with interfaith prayers, underscored the significance of his visit.
In a unifying address, District Chairman Alie Suma reaffirmed Port Loko’s unwavering loyalty to the APC, emphasizing that the district has yet to endorse any particular flagbearer. He praised Macauley as a valuable asset to the party while urging delegates to make informed decisions in the upcoming leadership race.
Taking the stage, Macauley delivered a powerful speech, emphasizing his deep-rooted connections to Port Loko through his grandmother, a proud Susu woman. He expressed his vision for radical transformation within the APC and Sierra Leone, citing his leadership credentials, including his role in establishing the Legal Aid Board. Macauley declared, “This is not a time for politics as usual. This is a time for radical readiness.”
Macauley challenged party members to scrutinize all aspirants based on their contributions to the APC rather than their promises. His rallying call was met with thunderous applause, solidifying his growing influence within the party.
Deputy Mayor Aminata Bangura used the platform to advocate for greater women’s representation in leadership, calling for an increase from the traditional 30% quota to 40%–50%. She stressed that women should no longer be confined to deputy roles but should take up leadership positions within the party.
In a striking display of solidarity, many ward and constituency executives openly pledged their support for Macauley, reinforcing his position as a leading contender for the APC flagbearer role in 2028. Political analysts view this overwhelming backing in Port Loko—a strategic APC stronghold—as a potential turning point in the flagbearer race.
With the 2028 elections approaching, Macauley’s strong presence in Port Loko highlights his growing influence within the APC, positioning him as a frontrunner in the contest for party leadership.
