Freetown, February 2, 2026 – The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has imposed fines on the All Peoples Congress (APC) Party following violations of the Political Parties Act 2022 (Act No. 25 of 2022) during the party’s “Mammoth Meeting” held at the Atouga Mini Stadium in Freetown on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
The Commission announced fines of Two Hundred Thousand Leones (NLe 200,000) against APC National Secretary General Lansana Dumbuya Esq., and One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones (NLe 150,000) against Zainab Sheriff, citing breaches of Section 39 (1) (c) and Section 39 (1) (d) of the Act.
The PPRC recalled that it had previously warned the APC Party in a letter dated 11th November 2025 against contravening Section 39 of the Act. Despite this caution, the Commission noted with grave concern that statements made at the recent meeting were profane, obscene, provocative, and inciting.
The APC Party has been given seven (7) days to pay the fines. The Commission stated that failure to comply will trigger further enforcement measures as provided under the Act.
The PPRC emphasized that the fines reflect its mandate to regulate political parties and ensure compliance with the law, stressing that inflammatory and offensive statements undermine democratic processes and public order.
The APC has not yet responded to the fine.
