On Thursday, July 3, 2025, His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio received the eight-month performance report from the National Revenue Authority (NRA) during a meeting at State House. The report, which highlights key operational milestones, left the President notably impressed by the institution’s progress under its current leadership.
President Bio expressed satisfaction with the NRA’s continued role in driving national development through robust revenue mobilisation. He lauded Commissioner General Mrs. Jeneba Kpaka Bangura and Board Chairman Mr. Kabineh Kallon for their transformative leadership, noting their efforts have resulted in enhanced revenue generation and reforms aimed at reducing corruption.
Since assuming office last year, Commissioner General Bangura—widely respected for her financial acumen—has spearheaded a number of strategic reforms that have bolstered the institution’s capacity. Despite systemic challenges, the Authority has successfully collected substantial government revenue, enabling the rollout of key programs aligned with President Bio’s “Big Five” agenda.
In a tweet posted Thursday evening, President Bio congratulated the NRA for its performance and urged the team to remain steadfast in surpassing future targets. He affirmed his continued support for the Authority’s reform trajectory and revenue initiatives.
The NRA’s latest report underscores its growing contribution to Sierra Leone’s fiscal sustainability and public sector efficiency.
