State House, Freetown, Thursday, 15 January 2026 — President Dr Julius Maada Bio has engaged Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) at State House, reaffirming his government’s commitment to strengthening private sector growth through sustained dialogue and partnership.
In his remarks, President Bio underscored the vital role oil marketing companies play in Sierra Leone’s economy, noting that the sector directly affects the daily lives of citizens and therefore requires deliberate government attention.
“This year, I am not only acting; I want to act with haste. If we are to work together, we must continue to engage in dialogue,” the President stated.
He described the oil marketers as key development partners, explaining that the meeting was convened to listen to stakeholders’ concerns, review the state of the partnership, and jointly identify ways to deepen collaboration.
“We are here to listen to you, to understand your concerns, assess our partnership, and explore how we can further strengthen it,” he added.
President Bio emphasized that regular engagement between government and private sector actors is essential for mutual benefit and sustainable economic growth. He noted that the meeting would serve as a foundation for continuous dialogue and cooperation.
Chief Minister Dr David Moinina Sengeh highlighted that the engagement was initiated by the President, stressing the importance of oil marketing companies as major contributors to Sierra Leone’s economy and national development agenda.
The meeting brought together government officials and representatives of oil marketing companies, who welcomed the opportunity to strengthen collaboration with the state in advancing economic growth and service delivery.
