Freetown, June 11, 2026: The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS), in partnership with the World Bank and key national agencies, has begun a two‑week Mid‑Term Review Mission of the Food System Resilience Program (FSRP) to assess progress, address challenges, and set priorities for the remainder of the project’s implementation.
The mission, opened at the MAFS Conference Hall in Freetown, brings together representatives from the Sierra Leone Agricultural Research Institute (SLARI), the National Federation of Farmers of Sierra Leone (NaFFSL), the National Fertilizer Regulatory Agency (NaFRA), the Sierra Leone Meteorological Agency (SLeMET), the National Water Resources Management Agency (NWRMA), and the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA), among others.
Agriculture Minister Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka highlighted the nationwide impact of FSRP, noting that strengthened institutions now provide critical technologies, water resource management services, and early warning systems that help farmers withstand shocks and build resilience.
World Bank Task Team Leader Dr. Adetunji Oredipe stressed the importance of candid discussions on implementation challenges and institutional capacity, saying the mission will conduct an in‑depth assessment to improve food security, boost productivity, and raise incomes for farming households.
The first week of the review will focus on detailed discussions in Freetown, while the second week will feature field visits to engage directly with farmers and evaluate the program’s impact on livelihoods and communities.
Officials say the findings will guide future investments, strengthen Sierra Leone’s food systems, and accelerate delivery of the government’s Feed Salone initiative.
