Freetown, Sierra Leone – September 13, 2026 — The Sierra Leone Housing Corporation (SALHOC) has denounced the vandalism of its office building after a video circulating on social media showed individuals attacking the premises.
According to reports, the building was mistakenly believed to belong to an individual known as “Jagaban.” SALHOC clarified that the property is owned by the Corporation and not linked to the person reportedly targeted.
Officials expressed alarm that staff were inside the building performing official duties when the incident occurred, placing their safety at serious risk. Two private vehicles belonging to employees were also damaged.
The office, currently undergoing rehabilitation and nearing completion, represents a significant public investment. SALHOC warned that such acts of violence could derail progress and delay the project’s completion.
The Corporation confirmed it will formally report the matter to the Sierra Leone Police and has called for a thorough, impartial investigation. SALHOC pledged full cooperation, including providing evidence to help identify those responsible.
Appealing for calm, the Corporation urged citizens to verify information before taking actions that could endanger lives or destroy public and private property.
SALHOC reaffirmed its commitment to protecting staff, safeguarding public assets, and completing ongoing rehabilitation projects for the benefit of Sierra Leoneans.
