A 21-year-old shoemaker, Anthony Sahr Koroma, has been committed to the High Court in Freetown to answer allegations of house breaking and larceny involving property valued at Le68,000.
Koroma was committed by Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 after the prosecution presented evidence during committal proceedings.
The accused is facing one count of House Breaking and Larceny contrary to Section 26(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, Koroma allegedly broke into the dwelling house of Salamatu Mansaray at Smith Drive, Leicester Village, in the Western Area of Freetown on 20 April 2026 with the intention of stealing.
Prosecutors further alleged that he stole a 52-inch plasma television, an Apple computer and other assorted items, all valued at Le68,000 and belonging to Mansaray.
No plea was taken when the charge was read and explained to the accused, as the matter was before the court for committal proceedings.
The prosecution, led by DPC 17649 Brima Kargbo, called the Investigating Officer and tendered evidence in support of the case.
Delivering his ruling, Magistrate Jah stated that, having considered the evidence presented by the prosecution as well as the statement of the accused, he was satisfied that a prima facie case had been established warranting trial before the High Court.
He subsequently committed Koroma to the High Court for further proceedings and ordered that he be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown pending trial.
