Sierra Leone Ambassador Strengthens Diplomatic and Economic Ties with Morocco

Dakhla, Morocco – 28 May 2025 – Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Morocco, His Excellency Alhaji Momodu Koroma, has embarked on a diplomatic tour in the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab Region to foster bilateral relations and attract investment to Sierra Leone.

During his visit, Ambassador Koroma, joined by Sierra Leone’s Consul General in Dakhla, Madam Zainab Kandeh, engaged with regional leaders, including the Wali (Governor) of Dakhla, Mr. Lamine Benomar. Accompanied by officials from the Agence Marocaine de Coopération Internationale (AMCI), the ambassador reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s diplomatic support and explored avenues for economic collaboration.

Acknowledging Morocco’s transformative development in Dakhla, Ambassador Koroma praised King Mohammed VI’s initiatives and reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Moroccan Sahara. In response, Governor Benomar welcomed Sierra Leone’s diplomatic presence and expressed gratitude for the nation’s ongoing support.

The meeting featured discussions on investment opportunities, particularly in the blue economy, renewable energy, and sustainable tourism—sectors deemed critical for future collaboration. Ambassador Koroma also met with Regional Council President Mr. Khattat Yenga, who oversees development programs and budgeting. Yenga expressed interest in visiting Sierra Leone and Liberia to explore partnerships in fisheries management, renewable energy, and agriculture.

The visit concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to advancing economic cooperation and fostering joint projects that will bolster socio-economic development in both nations.

This diplomatic mission highlights Sierra Leone’s strategic efforts to enhance its international partnerships and strengthen ties with Morocco, paving the way for mutual development and prosperity.
