Paris, France — The Embassy of Sierra Leone in Paris has officially commenced operations following the formal presentation of letters of credence by Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Kanja Sesay to the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The establishment of the embassy marks a significant milestone in Sierra Leone’s diplomatic engagement with France, strengthening bilateral relations and expanding opportunities for cooperation in trade, investment, and international affairs.
Formal Diplomatic Proceedings Underway
Following his credential presentation, Ambassador Sesay is expected to present his official letters to French President Emmanuel Macron at a later date during a formal ceremony, signaling full recognition of Sierra Leone’s diplomatic presence in France.
Ambassador Sesay and his Deputy, Her Excellency Mamadi Gobeh-Kamara, are now positioned to actively engage with French authorities and other diplomatic missions, advancing Sierra Leone’s interests in Europe.
Presidential Endorsement and Strategic Vision
Prior to departing for his diplomatic post, Ambassador Sesay and Deputy Gobeh-Kamara met with President Julius Maada Bio on April 4, 2025, at State House, where they received a presidential mandate to promote Sierra Leone’s global economic and investment potential.
President Bio congratulated the diplomatic team, emphasizing the need to showcase Sierra Leone as a viable investment destination.
“Your mission is not only to represent Sierra Leone but to attract meaningful investment and foster strong international partnerships,” the President noted, expressing confidence in their ability to execute their responsibilities effectively.
Expanding Sierra Leone’s Diplomatic Footprint
The opening of the Embassy in Paris aligns with Sierra Leone’s broader foreign policy goals, aimed at enhancing international cooperation, boosting trade relations, and strengthening diplomatic ties with strategic partners.
As Ambassador Sesay and his team commence their tenure, expectations are high for productive diplomatic engagements that will yield tangible benefits for Sierra Leone’s economy and global standing.
