Brussels, Belgium – May 28, 2025 – Sierra Leone’s Ambassador-designate to Belgium, Philip Bob Jusu, engaged in a strategic discussion with Emily Wigens, EU Director of the ONE Campaign, and Christian Wijnroks, Campaign Coordinator of the ONE Campaign, during a meeting at the Sierra Leone Embassy.
The ONE Campaign advocates for economic development and improved healthcare in Africa, striving for the continent to become an equal global player with widespread opportunities.
Strengthening Collaboration
Ambassador Bob Jusu revealed that he had followed the ONE Campaign’s work for over three years, noting its decreased presence in West Africa. Expressing his eagerness to bolster engagement, he emphasized the need for renewed collaboration, stating, “I want it to be a new dawn between the ONE Campaign, the Embassy, and the Sierra Leone government.”
Highlighting Sierra Leone’s development aspirations, the Ambassador emphasized joint efforts to unlock economic potential. He acknowledged the ONE Campaign’s track record in reshaping narratives, particularly in health financing, and voiced enthusiasm for leveraging their expertise to advance Sierra Leone’s priorities.

During the meeting, Emily Wigens outlined the ONE Campaign’s strategic priorities, including:
– Sustainable financing in Africa, aiming for blended healthcare funding models.
– Shifting the perception of healthcare from an expense to an investment in economic growth.
– Working with rating agencies to help African governments secure loans at lower costs.
Commitment to Future Engagement
At the conclusion of discussions, ONE Campaign EU Director pledged to collaborate with the Embassy, aligning efforts with Sierra Leone’s development priorities ahead of the EU/AU Summit.
