Freetown, Sierra Leone — August 22, 2025 Two individuals, Fatmata Lasayo and Abdul Bio, have been remanded in custody following their arraignment at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on charges of burglary and larceny.

Presided over by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah, the case stems from an incident on August 13, when Lasayo allegedly broke into the residence of Ibrahim Suma at NASSIT Drive, Wilkinson Road. She is accused of stealing two mobile phones—one Samsung valued at Le2,000 and one Itel worth Le1,500—along with Guinean Francs equivalent to Le5,000.

Police reports further allege that on August 1, co-accused Abdul Bio knowingly received the stolen items.

During the hearing, prosecution witness Ramatu Summah testified that she discovered Lasayo inside the house around 3:00 a.m. Lasayo claimed she was fetching water and had been brought by a male relative. However, a quick inspection revealed missing phones and signs of tampering with a motorbike.

Lasayo was taken to Lumley Police Station, where she reportedly confessed. Her husband, who allegedly attempted to interfere with police proceedings, was also arrested.

Both accused remain in custody, with the case adjourned to September 28, 2025, for further hearing.
