Freetown, Sierra Leone | 27 August 2026: The Technical Working Team has concluded its final meeting to consolidate the Political and Electoral Education Curriculum for universities across Sierra Leone, marking a key step toward institutionalizing electoral studies in higher education.
The meeting, held at Professor Thompson’s new IPAM building, focused on two critical areas: integrating technical inputs from the Electoral Commission into the curriculum, and finalizing the draft for presentation to the plenary session of vice chancellors, principals, and curriculum experts.
Officials said the engagement provided a clear roadmap for addressing outstanding issues, ensuring the curriculum is academically sound, comprehensive, and responsive to Sierra Leone’s governance and electoral context. By completing this preparatory work, the team expects the upcoming plenary validation to be more focused and efficient, reducing the time needed for deliberations.
The successful conclusion of the technical work represents another milestone in efforts to embed political and electoral education within universities nationwide, equipping students with knowledge to strengthen democratic participation and governance.
