Woman Remanded over Alleged Killing of Husband

Freetown, Sierra Leone – A 29-year-old woman, Isatu Bendu, has been remanded following her court appearance on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, over the alleged killing of her husband, Mustapha Bangura.

Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah of Pademba Road Court No.1 ordered her detention after being arraigned on one count of manslaughter, contrary to law.

According to police reports, the alleged incident occurred on April 2, 2025, at Kissie Williams Drive, Aberdeen Road, where Bangura was fatally stabbed in the chest.

During court proceedings, Inspector 15179 Kallon PB, led in evidence by Sergeant 9939 Lahai M, testified that he is attached to the Local Unit Commander, Congo Cross Police Division. He stated that at 22:55 hours on April 2, Dr. Peter Sorie Kamara Cole of Cockle Bay, Freetown, arrested and brought the accused to the station, reporting on behalf of the deceased.

A police investigation team, including Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) DPC 13974 James E., visited the crime scene to gather evidence. The prosecution also presented statements from witnesses, the complainant, and the accused, along with a death certificate from Connaught Hospital, as evidence before the court.

Due to the seriousness of the charge, Magistrate Jah denied bail for the accused. The case has been adjourned to June 19, 2025, for further proceedings.
