Freetown, July 15, 2026: Sierra Leone’s Minister of Finance, Hon. Sheku Ahmed Fantamadi Bangura, has underscored the central role of young people in driving national development, describing them as the country’s most valuable resource.
In an exclusive interview with Aisha Kay Productions, Bangura stressed that a nation’s true wealth is not measured only by natural resources, infrastructure, or financial capital, but by the creativity, talent, and potential of its youth. “The youth are the innovators of our nation, the builders of our nation, and the next leaders of generations to come,” he said.
Bangura emphasized that investing in young people must go beyond access to education. He argued that governments have a responsibility to create enabling environments where youth can acquire practical skills, secure meaningful employment, start businesses, and fully participate in national development. Without such opportunities, he warned, untapped potential could turn into frustration, depriving the nation of one of its most valuable resources.
He further noted that empowering young people is not merely a social obligation but a strategic investment in sustainable economic growth, innovation, and long-term prosperity. The interview reflects the Government’s commitment to placing youth at the heart of Sierra Leone’s development agenda, recognizing that when equipped with the right education, skills, and opportunities, they become the driving force behind a stronger, more resilient nation.
